  • Lost Nation Mosaic

So after sunning myself on the back patio this afternoon, the air grew slightly cooler as the sun set. I walked over to the firepit in my bare feet and started up a lovely blaze to keep me toasty then grabbed the mosaic. A perfect brew for a May evening... err... February evening outside. ?—by Brooke Penders

  • Bell's Hopslam

Snow day! Appointments cancelled? - check. Kids home? - check. Caught up on my FOB reviews from Week 1? - check. Time to start day drinking Week 2? - CHECK. This Bells Hopslam was calling my name and I answered back. Never mind that yesterday was so warm I was tempted to drive around with the top down... I will stake my turf in the sun and settle in with this delicious ipax2. Just wishing there was a second one in the box. Maybe the hubby can find one on the way home from work? Did I mention I love a snow day now and then?—by Brooke Penders

Have been reading the other comments a bit nervously as I hate a skunky beer as much as the next person... Have to say I really liked this, so maybe there is some inconsistency in the batch. Not my favorite of Bob's beers but I would drink this again quite happily.—by Brooke Penders

  • La Trappe Quad

How did this one sneak into Pennsylvania week? Do we need to tighten up our beer import laws? Ban all shipments form the Netherlands? No, I would argue we should probably enjoy this great foreign quad and the diversity it brings to week one. Invite it to enrich our beer drinking experience even if it doesn't share our Pennsylvania heritage. I am starting to feel a bit Pennsylvania Dutch just thinking about it. • Sunday Morning Stout

Think maybe I misread about which beer was aged... so again will not comment on aging since apparently I don't know what I'm talking about. I do know, and will reiterate, that while I adore coffee, I do not adore it in my beer. I like my brews kept separated. That said, nothing wrong with this, just not my thing.—by Brooke Penders

I have only had this once before, so can't really comment on the aging effects, but I can say I liked this one from the first sip and liked it more and more as I drank it. Not certain if it was the effect of the temperature increasing as the glass warmed up, or the effect of the high abv as I warmed up. hmmmm.—by Brooke Penders

  • Troeg's Chocolate Stout

Generally a huge fan of Troegs - but also generally not a huge fan of putting chocolate (or coffee) in my beer. But I was excited to try this one... and with it coming from Hershey was anticipating a bit of a chocolate extravaganza in the stout. Not the case. Was pleasant but surprisingly mild. I suppose the advantage is that you can drink it when you aren't really in the mood for chocolate, or a stout, but that isn't really the point, now is it?—by Brooke Penders

  • Conshy Type A

I love beer in cans. I don't love plastic wrap on cans. Why wrap a can that may be recycled with a plastic that may not? Like putting plastic packaging around a banana. Score of 0 for packaging. Can aside... the score is for the beer. Not generally a big fan of conshy brew but this one appeals to me and is very drinkable, though not inspiring. Some tough competition in the box for this local guy.—by Brooke Penders
