As I finish my last beer of the FOB 2017, it is fitting that is from the Alchemist. This one is unabashedly hooped. Smack you in the face hops. Can't get it there with Focal Banger or Heady which are so well balanced and tasty. Anyway kudos to Phil and his dominion for their efforts in putting this case together. In my humble opinion the best case by far in FOB history. Here's hoping that FOB 2018 stands up. Thank you Phil!—by Andy Rosen

Slightly acidic, hoppy bitter on the swallow. As I have been getting an education on these fine Vermont IPA's this one does not compare to what pours out of cans that say Alchemist on them—by Andy Rosen

  • Sip of Sunshine

Wow, 3 IPA's in a row for a confirmed non hop head. Gotta say that when you start to experience truly well crafted IPA's I'm beginning to get it. This also has that grapefruit, floral nose and the flavor holds strong through the swallow complimented by the hoppy bitterness but not overpowered by it. A well balanced and very nice beer—by Andy Rosen

Wanted to see how this matched up with it's brewery mate Heady, and it did. I gave Heady a 9 this year leaving open the possibility that this one may top it. Don't know that I can say it is better, but stands right up there with it. Excellent floral sweet nose with a complimentary bitterness on the swallow. Top notch—by Andy Rosen

Knew nothing about this beer going in. Was pleasantly surprised. Lovely sweet fruit, grapefruit nose and taste but finished with a soft bitterness that didn't overpower the taste. This would work real well sitting on the beach with a good book, but I hate the beach and don't read much, so my back deck with the ballgame on will have to suffice.—by Andy Rosen

  • Samiclaus 2015

I first had this beer probably 25 years ago in the early stages of my beer odyssey. At the time it was the strongest beer in the world and very rare. It is no longer the strongest, but still only brewed one time each year. The taste is powerful. It warms your insides. Had it with a kick ass chocolate chip cookie and slept like a baby. That being said, my tastes have strayed away from the big power mongers of alcohol. Excellent brew though but one puts you away.—by Andy Rosen

Strong Belgian Ale very well crafted. Probably gave this a higher score last year but i am beginning to appreciate less powerful beer that doesn't pound you with the taste of alcohol. This tastes great but pounds the alcohol down your throat on the swallow—by Andy Rosen

Tremendous sour. i understand one must enjoy a sour to really appreciate this beer. I have put down more sours than most anyone so take my word for it. This is clean, crisp and delightful. You can pair it with almost anything to eat and it will taste great—by Andy Rosen

Solid malt base. Hoppy but not in your face. Well balanced. I've enjoyed Dogfish for the 20 or so years they have been around, back to the Midas Touch, Raison D'Etre days. This is the best of the 60,90,120 series.—by Andy Rosen

  • Troeg's Chocolate Stout

I like my stouts on the chocolate side and not killer alcohol so I can function afterward or at least drive home. This is excellent. Great with a chocolate brownie. No nuts though. I don't know why you would put nuts in a perfectly good chocolate brownie anyway. This is my winner of the 3 PA stouts I was given —by Andy Rosen
