Winding down the beers with ICBAW, it's almost kind of anti-climactic. Just a mellow, understated kind of citrusy/bitter New England IPA, pretty middle of the road IMHO. No highs. No lows. Well, maybe a little on the low side. Geeez, hasn't ANYBODY in New England heard of Cascade hops??? I'm liking this less and less as it tries to astringe my tongue. —by Michael Gates

What can I say about this mostly IPA category. All really good, but the Wizard got lost in the mosaic on his way to get burned, crushed and banged to a 5th place IPA finish. The Wizard's powers we just not enough to overcome those challege(r)s...even so, a really good IPA. Sad that the case is empty. Another great year for Phil and team! Thank you!—by Jim Rau

This beer suffers from geographic giants. I wanted this to be sooooo good, but the bitter citrus taste is too much. One BA reviewer referred to it as flour feeling aftertaste, and I think that is a great observation. Overall quite serviceable, but I wanted Focal Banger Part 2.—by Mark McCreary

It is 12 at night and I just scored most of the second half of the case. Life got in the way of beer month. I still remember the first time Phil brought this contest up. He was sitting backstage at our daughters Nutcracker, in costume, as the old grandfather. He turns to my wife and asks,"hey do you like beer?" she says no but my husband does! So began my adventures in fob. Apart from the great beer I have met and become friends with some great people. All because some guy with gray spay painted hair wanted to share his love of beer. This is a non-review. Sorry. Been shaking my head the last 5 minutes over DomAce's review of Sip of Sunshine review. Did 50 Cent really say that, and did Dom really not like Sip of Sunshine? As for Wizard, it's juicy and delicious. Two years ago it would have finished in the top 5. Funny, I looked back a few years on the score sheet and there was a year when no IPAs finished in the top 6. I think racer 5 was the highest finisher that year at #7. That was also the year that more of my friends actually wrote reviews. Now they just drink their fob beer and go to bed early. Don't worry about good ole FOB, It will be ok. What? You're still on me for my hypocrisy of posting a picture? Ok I beg forgiveness Dan, it won't happen again...now go grab your crayon box! Now onto the Wizard: I have to admit I had a fresher can of this the other day (what? When someone puts a can in your hand you say no?), and this one seems to have lost some hoppy goodness. I get some citrus and full danky/piney bitterness, but also a bit of diacetyl and acetaldehyde. I know this beer is better than this, but this batch doesn't live up to its potential quality so I need to shut it down. Too bad. 7—by Mike Kinsley

A bit too bitter and dry for my tastes. A slightly tinny sharpness leaves a squirrelly rodent taste in my mouth. You know what I'm talkin about. The stark white pounder can uses a nicely surgical use of exposed aluminum to create unique focal points in their chain reaction symbolism. For those symbiotics among us, it's a bit like a pair of twin alchemists. 8.0 for elegant minimalism in a two color can. —by Chris Dietrich

Was expecting much more for this beer. Fairly average DIPA , and shows a bit too much alcohol for only 8% even. —by John Remington

Better than the 23 minute song that shares it's name (at least the 2 minutes I listened to of it). Apparently the song was a tribute to Jordan (hence the length), name can only be an attempt to explain why he wanted to draft Kwame Brown... Here is a link to the song for those into self-flaggelation.. https://youtu.be/2dQLPdy4Kzo—by Jim North

Had to bat out of order for this one as I was sharing some FOB bounty with my beer Yoda - this was his first choice to try. First sip was a bit harsh - or was it? With more time and sips, the consistency of the assertive bitterness is what really impressed. Consistent is the word. This beer has a point of view. Not necessarily something I love, but I definitely respect the resonance of taste and the conviction of the brewer. It's gonna be the only beer I rate an 8 that I didn't love. —by Doyle

was rushing to grab beer for the bowl, reached for the wrong row in the case, settled in, realized I had 3 from the Vermont contingent, (still wondering why Heady isn't in the grouping?) the Wizard (of oz) and the illuminati script did not mesmerize me to a higher score as Frank Baum the theosophist desired—by Dr. Snaz

Except for its beer and its skiing, I despise the communist nation of Vermont. Perhaps it will secede along with California and Massachussetts and we can kick their ass then take their beer for free (in the case of Vermont) and force their brewers and beer-wizards to wear red "Make America Great Again" caps. But I digress....this IPA wasn't quite Heady Topper but was still excellent. The drawings on the can were disturbing as I'm sure (since we're talking about Vermont, here) they were satanic hieroglyphics. For that reason I docked these Vermont f'ckers points.—by Andrew Garrity

Urban Dictionary definition #6: It's complicated - An easy brush off when you don't want to explain something. I want wizardry explained to me...not in a JK Rowlings way, but I want to hear from an actual Wizard and have him explain why this beer just missed the mark for me. Packaging A+ Taste C —by Yokim
