As I finish my last beer of the FOB 2017, it is fitting that is from the Alchemist. This one is unabashedly hooped. Smack you in the face hops. Can't get it there with Focal Banger or Heady which are so well balanced and tasty. Anyway kudos to Phil and his dominion for their efforts in putting this case together. In my humble opinion the best case by far in FOB history. Here's hoping that FOB 2018 stands up. Thank you Phil!—by Andy Rosen

Where I went to school a C was considered perfectly fine. An A was for answering the question as well the professor could. No one got out with 4.0. An eight is probably too low a score for this beer in the age of grade inflation, but I am trying to be consistent. I still think Hopslam and Enjoy by 2/14 were the best IPAs of this case. Imagine had Alchemist released Crusher as its first beer. Puns describing how it dominates other beers would be much easier to orchestrate; it’s possible we would all have jet packs; Vermont would still be the beer capital but people would see it as a much more aggressive state, citing Ethan Allen more as a folk hero and less of a furniture chain; our president might have adopted a more sane approach to, oh I don’t know… everything. And Heady Topper would be averaging about an 8 in FOB.—by CO

A punch in the face from the Hop Monster. Crushed up front, but as the beer warmed up the flavor profile exploded from this DIPA. I had a tough time seeing all that debris floating in my brew. I did like the 9% ABV bonus buzz from this snow globe. It's is a tie between F-banger and this one in my Alchemist heavy weight bout. Is Heady the Rhonda Rousey of FOB? Wait…I don’t know why I am making an MMA refence as I have watched a total of ZERO MMA matches in my life. It's got all the floaty bits like the Focal Banger, the clean delivery of the Heady, but a hop zing that beats the Sip of Sunshine by a hair. I'm not a hop head, but this is super delicious. The can doesn't lie. That ABV sneaks up on you. But . . . so good . . .when . . .hits . . .lips. This was my second beer of the day. The first one was a Citrus IPA from Funk brewing in Emmaus, PA. I had it on tap sitting in the Whole Foods dining area in Wynnewood. The beer was very good. I can't say I recommend the dining and drinking at the Whole Foods bar experience. But I don't discourage it either. It was just weird. Maybe chalk it up to my Pennsylvania-ness, which makes drinking beer in a grocery store weird. But, it felt like I was trying to force it into being acceptable when true Pennsylvanians know that getting a beer in everyday places is unacceptable and awkward. —by Dan Aiken

Love the beer. The hops came overflowing, tasting bitter, but I wanted more. The snowy sediment, some globs larger, some smaller, tickled my tongue reminding me of the tactile pleasure of special moments. Lol, that was my best scullin reproduction. I have no idea where he is, but I sure miss him! Hopefully when I get my brewing masters for the second career I will understand why there was so much sediment. With a little more smoothness, and a little less of sediment, this could have won it. I will save my 10 for the last 2, and drink both before assessing a final score. I knew this beer was going to be special before I even tried it. So much so, that Scott Boorujy and I decided to make the eight hour trek up to Vermont for the sole purpose of buying Crusher on day it was released. We were the first two people in line...eight full hours before it went on sale. After three hours of waiting in line by ourselves, other people finally showed up and started lining up behind us. We split the first case ever canned. —by Michael Lee

Awesome beer really strong. The hop flavor is not as thick as the heady. And it packs a wollop. But a plus stuff gotta try this one if your a ipa fan!—by Josh Cauffman

So what do you do when you get your ass handed to you for 30 hours at the hospital and when you get off and get home remember you haven't eaten, drank anything and ...oh yeah it's your birthday and you turned 30.......you drink a Crusher and shower beer the second half. I don't know if it was the throw back to college shower beers, my self pity or the delirious state I was in but this beer might be my new favorite. —by Casey Sheck

Had to try this one out of order... Super excited to try this for the first time. Definitely crushed my palate, but not in a good way. Huge hops, but way too bitter for me. Preferred Heady and Sips of Sunshine. —by Ken Heft

Been wanting this for a really long time... so of course I'm a bit disappointed, just my shitty personality. Warning to not pour it into a glass - so much sediment that you WILL be turned off. But, it is a great beer. Huge double. Big citrus punch. Hint of sweet at the end. World class!—by SThomas

First, no more pix of the beers. You all have the same beers so you know what they look like, you don't care what glass I'm pouring it into. Second, I'm slipping on drinking these IPAs as fresh as possible so no more fucking around. Crusher starts w nectarine, tangerine, mild pine & resin, lite grass over lightly sweetened malt, followed quickly by a full-on bitterness that, combined w a med/full yet smooth alcohol, leads to a dry finish that begs for another sip. Such a solid IPA, looking forward to the rest! 9—by Mike Kinsley
