This beer is an all time great and for an ipa that has been around and the same for 20+ years its still good. Yes its not as good as heady topper, sip of sunshine etc...but just like 90 minute did for dogfish head they have done for Lawson's and the alchemist. A great beer that transcends the time space continuum. —by Andrew Knasiak

Haven't had a 90 Minute in a while. Really like it. Usually just buy it when I am in the mood for a treat. Has a rich mouthfeel, malty and slightly astringent on the finish. The flavor is a little tough to pin down. The dryness on the finish has me thinking stonefruit like peach but there is also some pine and soft mango. It blends together very well to keep the 9% ABV in check. Solid. Imperial, even. —by Michael Gates

This used to be the quintessential balanced IPA but now it just make me think of Kanye West. I think most of us would admit there was a time that we like Kanye and thought he had a bunch of potential to make strong social statements but now he is just a joke. I think it all started when he interrupted the girl we all hate to admit that we like (if not personally we like her as an artist for our kids to listen too..you know who I'm talking about). Ironically, I think that is about the time other breweries started becoming more creative in style and process to produce better beers. As it related to 90 min...I'm not saying its a a gold digger but it taste more like a broke______! 60 is simply too cute; the baby of the family... 120 is just too aggressive, angry in its glass, full of punches and violence. No, 90 is your gal... the perfectly adjust middle child of this beer family. It just is, neither living nor dying on some experimental timing of hop soaking...cool to go through life without the spotlight shining brightly, it lives for itself, neither demanding attention nor dreading it. Sure there are other big bad monsters in the room here, monsters we want to party with. But at the end of the day, with our hand around a 90, things just seem to work out, no?—by CO

This beer surprised me. It's been years since I've had one of these, and with good reason. Beer palates have changed but Dogfish Head remains the same! Anyway, I digress. I fully expected not to like this. What surprised me in the maltiness of this beer. I don't remember that from before. It is really malty! I would not reach for this if I were in the mood for an IPA. I've got nothing bad to say about Dogfish 90 Minutes. Except to admonish myself for not having drank (drinked? drunken? drunk? all of the above?) more of it, and for not having visited the brewery yet. Now, I've only lived here for two and half years, so I do think I have a somewhat relevant excuse. Both situations will be addressed this Spring, which is apparently already here. If you have a motorcycle and care to join me, then…figure out a way to. I really wanted to make the Analog-A-Go-Go last year, too, but couldn’t pull it off, damn it. Maybe this year. Put this head-to-head against victory hop ranch, just for fun. (Am I breaking any FOB protocol?) 90 min was a forerunner to current DIPAs, so not a fair comparison here. It's like comparing Atari and Nintendo. iPhone 4 and iPhone 6. You have to consider them in their generational context. Hop ranch is much more hop-forward while 90 minute has more malt balance. And very different hop profiles, with hop ranch having the trendy citra and mosaic. And 90 min? I don't know, Amarillo? Good for nostalgia and eh... well again, not a fair comparison. It's seventy degrees in February and I'm grilling. I've loved this beer for a while but this setting is like talking about how good a college professor is the day he had class outside after a long winter. —by Brendan Quinn

I was expecting to hate this former winner. All of us beer snobs would turn our noses up. In fact I was pleasantly surprised. There wasn't the hoppy cutting bitterness but the over flavor was really pretty good. No chance of winning again but not so bad—by dave romesburg

Its an Amtrak 10, and about the same 90 min from DC to Wilmington. The dude next to me is an obnoxious pig who smells like he shit himself. It really just an ok beer and I'll probably save the one at home for someone who tho thinks it a craft beer.—by Matt Westbrook

It changed the way the position was played. how can Brian Dawkins not be in the hall of fame? Troy Palomalu (AKA Heady Topper) and Earl Thomas (Crusher) have him to thank for their successes. With expanding competition this beer does hold up less but is still enjoyable and very drinkable. Just wish sam would stop brewing beer with scrapple and find some other cool ancient recipe or miles Davis bottle cover to work on.—by John Harding

Mother's milk. That's what I called 90 minute way back when it was THE craft beer for me. Tastes may change but you gotta respect what DFH has done to inspire brewers and force them to go further. A chocolate/coffee IPA???!!!! - oh hell yeah. Thanks Funkmaster I.B.U. and DJ Little Guy - keep kicking it old school.—by Doyle

Listen up, ladies and gentlemen. Our fugitive has been continually hopped for 90 minutes. Average bottling date over uneven ground, barring injuries, is 2 months ago. That gives us a radius of 6 miles. What I want out of each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at 15 miles. Your fugitive’s name is Dr. Phil Aiken. Go get him.—by Robert Bustard

90 Minute has earned the distinction of Best Beer that I Know I Can Always Get (relatively cheap too). and there's something to be said for that. Definitely a hop-heavy selection of IPAs this year, so 90Min will taste very much on the sweet side in comparison. It also holds a bit of nostalgia for me, being a longtime house beer at what used to be my local pub - good ole Riddle Ale House, where 1970 meets, ... well, 1971—by Stump

So I did some fact checking at the request of "our" bro Dan, and the results are in. Dan Aiken( did I spell that correctly? A i k e n, I think that's right). I'm so bad with names, has been in fob for 397 years. There were more people at dan's inauguration as president of coloring than any other inauguration ever. PERIOD! Dan, not only is the greatest colorerer of all time, he is the only fobber in history to ever stay within the lines. Dan was in Friends of Ben beer contest, way back when it was dominated by real beer like Miller and shaeffer and the Budweiser. Not this pussy shit about aromas and whatnot? Palate? Back then we didn't even have palates you snobby friggin pussies! Drink a real man's beer and then we can talk.—by George Aiken

What's IPA? It is nor hops, nor malt, nor water, nor yeast, nor any other part belonging to a beer. O, be some other name! What's in a name? That which we call an IPA by any other name would taste as sweet. So 90 Minute IPA would, were it not 90 Minute IPA call'd, retain that dear perfection which it owes without that title. 90 Minute IPA, doff thy name; and for that name, which is no part of thee, take all myself.—by Dave "SD" Cook

Close enough to count as PA IPA #3. Medium grain w lite caramel & toasty malt backs up citrus (grapefruit, lite orange), pine & mild grassy hop aromas w hints of strawberry esters. Very malty flavor for an IPA (toast, lite caramel) w med bitterness, similar hops and esters, & mild alcohol warmth but not enough to keep this from finishing a bit cloyingly sweet. Closer to a very lite barleywine...I shall anoint this the Miller lite of barleywines. 6—by Mike Kinsley

I believe this was the original FOB champ back in the early days of this group. I thought I would drink this one early on just to see how it stacked up to the other IPAs at the onset of the contest. It's solid, but times have changed. Actually the competition around this beer has drastically improved so the days of this beer reigning in the FOB are nostalgic. Solid 6 though.—by Pat Cook, RM#7
